Another Blessed Me Day

Finally had a Monday to me again. It was supposed to have my sister-in-law over, but in the end she had to cancel. That was a serious shame. If I had known last night, then I would have accepted the teaching job for today. *sigh*

I did a ton of cleaning in the house. I packed any straggling Samhain decor away and pulled out the Yule decor. No, I have not put it up yet. It isn't December. I got a bit of writing done too.

And, shopped online for some Yule gifts and planned. Muwahahahahaha.....

Double Date

Today was a day for US! The hubby and I went on a double date with Roo and her S.O. It was an amazing day!

We first tae buns from our favorite Chinese pastry place in Chinatown. Then we spent time in the Old Port at the Tea House we love. We explored some shops and then went to the Museum to see the Waterhouse exhibit. It was incredible seeing the true painting in theyr remarkably larger than expected form. I noticed all kinds of details I never noticed in the prints!! We also saw an odd 28min film inspired by some of the art, supposedly. It was very very odd and gruesome, so I am not quite sure how it related to the exhibit. The entire exhibit was great. It would have been even better had it not been crowded by rude pushy people.

We finished the roaming with a trip to a game store and a dinner of all-you-can-eat sushi.

While I know the day turned out way more expensive than anticipated or desired, I wish to say that I really appreciated going out on a date and doing stuff together that was nothing to do with anything else in our lives. I love you all !

Wow... been a while...

So, it seems I have been so busy that I neglected my blog. Yes, I have been THAT busy!!! From conference to work to teaching to conference to work to more teaching to RA work... to coven stuff and more. I have hardly had a chance to breathe. I was sick for a bit in the middle of all that too.

My days off were hardly days off as they were full of the stuff I could not do while doing other stuff. I did claim a reading day which was AMAZING as I started devouring a trilogy. I read the first book ("Way of Shadows" by Brent Weeks) in a week. Few books can captivate me so much that I would gladly give up sleep to keep reading. I am now half-way through the second book ("Shadow's Edge").

I am struggling to get things in order so I can get back to school. It will mean a VERY thin financial December and thus thin on the gifting. This week has been a daily exploration of the limits of my patience and stress tolerances. I am at my limit.

So, instead of trying to tell you what has gone on all month, I will let you know about today.

Today... very very very late... my wedding Thank You's will finally get into the mail. Today, I have handled bank stuff and school stuff. Today, I will pay my ticket agreement and prepare a check for the Saxon Chocolates for the Yule Fair. Today, I will work. Today, I posted to my fanfic forum and worked more on my novel. Today, I plan a few fascinating lectures. Today, I managed to prepare a huge amount of rice specialty dish for tomorrow's pot luck.

Some time tonight, the bathroom and bedroom and kitchen will get cleaned... I hope.

Some time this weekend, all the RA stuff I have for initial contacts of department chairs will get finished.

Sunday we (the hubby and I0 go on a double-date! We are going to the Tea House we love in Old Montreal and then to the Museum of Fine Arts for the Waterhouse Exhibit. Yay!!!

I am not going to get to my parent's to do any sewing as I had hoped for Yule Fair stuff. Alas!

Recap

My weekend was very very very hectic. And as much as I might have complained, I had a great time. Being up at 5 or 6 in the morning to be on a 7:00am bus was brutal. But I loved the academic atmosphere of the AAR Conference. The people and the subjects, the intellectual and stimulating conversation, the international and multifaith elements lent to my wonderful experience. I would love to do this again. Though ... perhaps not on the heels of a work week, with a major ritual in the middle and immediately followed by more work. This has made me want to get back to school... if only I could locate $1300... SIGH! I did buy some academic books while there at the exhibit hall. The bibliophile in me feels very satisfied. Someone even called me (mistakenly) Dr. Scarlet Jory. I am not a PhD grad. Alas. I wonder what I said that made them think that while I was talking to them? I was too stunned to correct them. More like, I walked away and then thought, Did they just call me Dr? Neat! Makes me want to get back to my thesis too, which I had the opportunity to discuss several times over the weekend.

I am so very very exhausted.

The exhaustion dropped me so low that now I am ill. I was hoping to dodge it, but the seasonal cold got me anyways. Congested. Sore throat. No voice. Time for a trip to the pharmacy for Vit. C and time for more little yogurt things with probiotics. I want to fight this off fast.

By the way... Many hugs go out to Mel for the loss of her father.

Just what I need...

Yup... absolutely just what I need right now. Can you hear the sarcasm dripping venomously from me? I have insomnia. I am just... awake. Truth be told, I don't normally go to bed till about 2am normally, but i needed to be in bed asleep by midnight.

I teach tomorrow (um... later this morning) at 7:45am till 2:30pm then hike out to the Palais de Congres for the conference till 9pm.

So... insomnia... is just what I need right now...*grrrr*

Life's track was offset derailing many things. I am not sure what will happen with those many things. Some are slowly being brought back on track.

I will be subbing again Friday. I am kinda stuck with the RA stuff unable to go forward till we get research ethics approval. But my timesheet for what was done to date is in. So, I should get a couple paychecks soonish.

What DnD Character am I?

And I really really thought I would be Chaotic Good. I've grown lawful in my old age.

I Am A: Lawful Neutral (or good) Human Druid/Ranger (3rd/2nd Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-12

Dexterity-12

Constitution-12

Intelligence-14

Wisdom-16

Charisma-13

Alignment:
Lawful Neutral A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Primary Class:
Druids gain power not by ruling nature but by being at one with it. They hate the unnatural, including aberrations or undead, and destroy them where possible. Druids receive divine spells from nature, not the gods, and can gain an array of powers as they gain experience, including the ability to take the shapes of animals. The weapons and armor of a druid are restricted by their traditional oaths, not simply training. A druid's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that they can cast.

Secondary Class:
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Despite Best Efforts

Sometimes, despite your very best efforts... things just don't work out. You glare at the results with mixed emotions. You want to hate and scream. In the end, all you feel... is like a failure.

Pardon me while I go beat my head against that brick wall... again.
