This is my desire for January 2010...

RELI 616T/4 Chan/Zen Buddhism T 16:00- 18:15 M.DesJardins

This advanced seminar focuses on the important tradition of Chan/Zen which is now the dominant form of Buddhist institution in East Asia (China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam). The topics examined are: historical formation of the Chinese Schools; its Japanese version known as Zen; Korean and Vietnamese lineage; main body of writings; the various methods for the transmission of the Teachings; and Chan/Zen Buddhist culture. RELI 226 or a good knowledge of Buddhism is recommended for this class. This course is a seminar format one, in which both upper level undergraduate and graduate students will be participating.

RELI 630G/4 Anthropology of Religion Th 18:30-20:45 N. Joseph

The anthropological study of religion will look into the field of religion from an anthropological perspective. It will highlight the participant observation approach as well as other anthropological methods in order to explore diverse religious practices and experiences. The purpose of this course is practical, to give graduate students training in field methods. Thus, we will focus on techniques and field procedures as each student will be required to do simple interviews, oral histories and field studies. As much as possible this course is to be considered a practicum.

The Fair

It was hectic. It was crowded. It was thrilling! The speakers were amazing. The community packed each lecture with a minimum of 8 in a room to as many as 30 spilling out into the store desperately trying to listen in.

The vendors managed decently and sold some wonderful wares. It was a great way to start of the spring and summer. The weather also let us know of the weeks and months to come of warmth and sun.

I had a great time.

Today, I realized I had pulled my shoulder and am in a good deal of pain from hauling heavy stuff around. I was so exhausted that I never realized the time till I dragged myself from bed sometime late afternoon.

I hope everyone had a good time and got home safe.

There are some things we will keep for next round and some things we will change.

Ovo and stuff

http://www.cliniqueovo.com/

So... today was insane. The husband and I barely slept well at all. We had to be up early and out to pick up out fertility file at the hospital. We were not as early as I would have liked, but plenty early enough... until we hit traffic and construction on the highway and were late. Our file cost us a stupid $57... and in the end, they still managed to forget to put a set of blood test results in. Dickwads! hate hate hate the hospital. *grrrrr*

We ended up late for our Ovo appointment. And thus had to wait almost an hour to be seen. That was fine. At least we were seen. The doctor was WONDERFUL! He asked lots of questions, knew what he was doing, was both compassionate and light-hearted. He was encouraging and patient and is more than willing to explore options with us stating with the basics. He emplained everything and then let us sit with the nurse (who needs to learn more English... but we managed... she was nice too) who re-explained some things and walked us thru a couple procedures and listed things we were missing before we could take any steps.

1- get the missing results from the hospital *argh* OVO sent a requisition for them but that takes 30 days.

2- Scarlet get a blood test becasue the stupid hospital tested for everything under the sun except for on important thing *DOH!*

3- Scarlet visit GP and get some examinations things and a couple small tests done.

4- hubby see the man doctor June 2nd

After all that we start trying again. We have been patient. While these preparations are under way, we will grab our finances by the reigns and sort them out as well as purge the house, finish renovations and prep a kid room.

In other news:

I spent a thank you Chapters/Indigo gift card this week and bought a kit for learning Tai Chi Fan dancing. *SQUEE!!!* It comes with a metal fan and an instructional DVD. This is now part of my Monday routine. YAY!

The Fair is ready to go and we are very excited! See everyone there! (including my god-son)

taking stock of my world

HOROSCOPE TODAY:
You have much to gain by delving deep into the boundless reaches of your subconscious today, but the trick is how to best go about it. Unfortunately, you don't have a futuristic transporter that can beam you from one dimension to another. You need time to relax into the dreamy realms of your imagined world, but others may be expecting you to show up and be productive in this one. Handling your responsibilities first can remove the pressure, enabling you to take your much-needed spiritual journey.

Well now... that was interesting! I think I did it the other way around though. *wink* I did not get out of jammies today. I was migrainy all last night and most of today. So I relaxed, meditated, read a novel with some tea on the sofa with purring cats and ignored the telephone. I am feeling mostly more human that I did an hour ago. Thus... I am here.

I did not get the research done I wanted to last night, which I am only just starting now. And so I am not getting to my parents' to sew more pouches. *SIGH* Maybe I'll be able to squeeze some time in on Friday.

Today: set up RA doc for current research, edit fanfic and post chapters, finish laundry, prep Warrior lecture information, prep Rites of Passage lecture information

Tomorrow: work, more lecture prepping, and finding all the tax info that I need

Wednesday: work, finalizing lecture notes, maybe some editing... maybe a visit to Indogi for some personal gift card purchases that are in store according to the website

Thursday: crack of dawn acquiring of medical file from evil hospital, attending appointment at new private clinic, then work

Friday: exchange of RA materials, pouch sewing at parents' place, then warrior lecture at 7pm

Weekend: BELTAIN FAIR

Monday: abandoning the world for a "ME" day

The News

I know some of you have been wondering. What was the exciting news and did it pan out?

The exciting news was that I was recommended as an RA for a new top Think Tank at Concordia University to study the Assessment of Learning (AOL) and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) to help Concordia improve its teachers and focus on education and to maybe join the giants in this field which include British Columbia and Hong Kong.

I went to the meeting last Tuesday and I am IN! I am on the team!! YAY!!! And yes, it is paid. I don't know the pay scale yet. It is estimated at 10-15$ per hour. We meet May 5th to see what the 5 RA's have accomplished in the few weeks and how long it took them to accomplish it. My assignment: Go to Concordia's CTLS and peruse the library of journals and book for useful literary references to help that Think Tank Team. I also have to either find or write abstracts/reviews for everything useful that I find and get it added to a database 9that database is someone else's project). I started Friday! I spent 2 hours at the CTLS and came home with a bunch of books and journals to start work on. I wish I have the time to deeply read and absob and learn all these things that I am researching. *SIGH* Oh well... I am at least going to have an amazing list with summaries.

In other news...
Beltain Fair is this weekend! OMG! I have to sew more pouches and prepare my lecture. I hope it goes well for everyone.

The day is beautiful outside. I think I might go sit with a book out there till I get chilly.

Monday @ the Parents'

So, I went up to do sewing and have pouches for the Fair. I might even have convinced my mom to add things to my table. We'll see. My dad (and $50) got my windshield wipers fixed on my car. It is temporary as another part is on its last legs, but at least that part won't cost more than $20. I chatted with Mom and got caught up on the family news good and bad. And in between that... I sewed pouches.

Now I am home, tired, have a crink and slightly stressing about tomorrow's excitement.

Working through Pain

I don't talk much about it. I hate discussing when I am in pain. Part of it is denial. If I pretend real hard that I am not hurting, maybe I will believe it and it will just stop. Part of it is stubbornness. Can I tolerate this? Yes? Fine. I'll deal. Part of it is that I am focusing so hard to shift energies that I can't afford to talk about it or I might end up feeling the pain and dissipating all the energy work I have done to endure it. Part of it is that others are also in pain and I feel incredibly guilty admitting my pain.

I have been in some dire-ish pain since Friday. Since the weather hit the shift to super damp and cold. The joints are non-stop aching. Mostly the right ankle and knee and the right wrist and thumb joint, also the right shoulder. I usually expect my hip to flare too, but thankfully it hasn't. *knocks on wood* These have been making things a bit awkward. I am enduring though. The worst is the tendinitis in the left foot that decided it is back with a vengence despite physio and orthotics where it was starting to actually do well. I can hardly put this foot to the floor without almost blinding pain, let alone stand or walk with it. I just want to cry.

Ok... I am done. I will go back to denying and trying not to me cranky or anything with anyone.

I have work and a ritual tonight. I also will be working on the Warrior's Path course. Off I go. Need to stop at the bank on my way in.

huzzah

I have finally gotten myself all sorted with my computer. It took me almost all day today to get everything into place. It took me like over an HOUR to fix my bookmarks. I am still missing a few things that I hope to get loaded later on today: FTP program, Weather Eye, some zip program (unless the husband did that already and I am not recognizing it), some burning cd/dvd program, and PaintShop Pro (JASC).

I think I will go bake some biscuits. I'm craving them and they are comfort food.

My car is in the driveway but it is raining so my plan for the day it out. I wanted to go to my mom's to sew pouches. Oh Well. I hate feeling trapped. I can't drive anywhere if I wanted to. I can't take the bus either as I have only one bus ticket to get me to work tomorrow. Friday I am tuning up my bike. The tires need air and the bike needs to be cleaned and oiled.

A financial windfall would be real nice now.

*saved*

I have been saved! Thank the Lord! Well... in my case, thank the Gods! All my critical data has been saved. My system was wiped and I am now in the re-installing phase. I suspect this to take me a few days till I am fully up to date and able to do stuff again.

I so need a new computer though. Apparently this is sorely out-dated. Alas. It is definitely not gonna happen till other things are handled and till I have had a real road trip far from Montreal.

So the project this evening is to re-install what I can and reload my saved data and get my music back in. An external drive is looking more and more interesting. It would be great just to hold my movies and music so I don't have to try to back them up on DVD's.

Yesterday was a bad stressful day as I had to abandon my car in Blainville due to rain and broken windshield wipers (they broke just as I got into Blainville for a the Hubby's niece's first birthday). Today after a wonderful coven meeting, I retrieved my car and it is in my driveway where I can actually consider fixing it. The weather has been no good at all for mt tendanitis. It started to hit the pain level that I cannot tolerate or ignore. I suspect this week will be hell for the tendanitis and the joint pains. *pssst* Snow is predicted this week.

Back to loading stuff onto the newly cleaned up computer.

I plan to take a break to do some writing and to pack some stuff for tomorrow. Tomorrow I am going to my mom's to do some sewing in prep for the Beltane Fair.

Computer Trouble

I am having massive computer trouble.
My emailing is SPORADIC if at all.
If you asked me to do something or have been trying to reach me, sorry.. can't.
I hope to be sorted out by Monday.

This weekend:
- backing-up what I can save between crashes every 5 min
- wiping the system
- reloading from scratch

Please have patience. This intensely frustrating for me and making me very "short" temper-wise with everyone and everything considering all the writing stuff and school stuff and thesis research on this computer.
