Some discoveries...

Discovery #1 - humans need (or at least this human needs) 2 days back to back off of work and school and busy stuff to recoup and function.

Discovery #2 - Blue-tongued skinks shed scale my scale and NOT smooth like a snake. They also need a bath to help them. IT IS ALL ROUND MESSY!!!

Discovery #3 - I am enjoying a video game on an x-box... really... Assassin's Creed 1.

Discovery #4 - I will need something like 2 solid weeks and help with no interruptions to properly spring clean my home.

Discovery #5 - Human NEED a certain amount of contact and affection, much like cats and dogs to be sociable creatures... otherwise they go feral and not nice at all.

Discovery #6 - technology can be expensive... and once you manage to get it... it can be VERY CONFUSING to learn to use.

Discovery #7 - The human body need to move in order to keep being able to move.

Discovery #8 - Some spring-like weather and bright sunshine does WONDERS for one's mood.

Pet Home Renovations

Today we visited Alex @ Terre & Mer in Verdun and I spent about $100 on... stuff. Home renovation equipment for the pet friends.

Cleaned the Angel, the dove. He indulged greatly in his millet treat stick and the fresh bath. The previous owners had told me he hated baths. HA! He loves them! I need to get him a new cage. His feathers are getting fragged from the littleness of this cage. That is a $100 investment all by itself though. It will have to wait.

Cleaned the geckos, Spot & Leo. This time I put in sand instead of bark bits. They were very upset. The ground is now a pale bone color. That means they will shift their skin color to blend in a bit. I know they are hungry, but the change stressed them too much. So I will let them settle a few days and then feed them. Picking up crickets might be on this weeks agenda since all the lizards like them.

Then I adjusted the beta fish, Dragon and Fury. Dragon is getting on in years and slowing down. He is not so active. I am sad. I am not sure how much longer he will live. He is so pretty as a solid rich red color. I had him forever, since before I moved to LaSalle. Fury is never disturbed by a change in scenery. he is still active, feisty, and will eat anything that dares touch the water. I had moved them to make room for a new littler reptile tank between them, but as it turned out, the depth was too great for the shelf. So the beta fish went back to their usual places.

Huntress, my berber skink, received a whole new home. I set up the little cube tank for her since she was just overwhelmed by the tank guest in her big tank. He kinda hates the new tank. It is really too small for her. I need a larger tank. I will fatten her up, let her destress some on the new tank and then maybe find her a new home. She is now in my office on my giant wooden shelf. It is very temporary. She hardly can get any light there, and it is just... no fun. But it is safe from kitties. The cats already broke through the tank screen top twice. Easily fixed thankfully, but means I cannot have her anywhere but in the office.

The blue-tongued skink has a nickname, Cuddles... because she is so cuddly! Sweetness is also a nickname for her. I am still seeking a good name for her. Her giant tank got a rearrangement. I removed all the usual stuff inside. She got a new silver water dish for drinking, and a double bowl cat food dish for play water till I can get her a proper bath dish. She has a now low food dish and a heat lamp. She still needs a proper hiding spot, but that requires some serious thinking and looking. The tanks is now set up that it could have another blue-tongues skink! I want another one as friendly as she is. Also, I want a male. The male at Alex's is too skittish... pretty, but too skittish. Maybe at the reptile show in March there will be a nice male. I am considering trying my hand at breeding them. Anyways, She ate from my hand this evening: cat food, bananas, cherry tomatoes, and raspberries.

Skink News

The husband adores her and cuddles with her lots on the sofa while playing his video games. She still has no name. I am open to suggestions.

So far,

She eats: lettuce, banana, raspberries, and cooked chicken.

She does not seem to like: liver pate.

Surprise!

Look at that! I am posting! It is 1:30am...

The past few weeks have been a bundle of being ill and stressed and overwhelmed with school. The former two have finally abandoned the house, but the latter has invaded en force! The stress level made for some very... poor choices on my part and some serious faux-pas. I expect some serious reprimanding by Friday. Alas.

I took a couple days off of life and hung out with a friend.

Then I cam home with a BLUE TONGUED SKINK! YAY!
I have wanted one forever. I begged the husband for it. It... is a she! And she needs a name! She is sweet tempers, cuddly, and curious. I am still trying to figure out what she likes to eat. Apparently, she does not seem interested in pate, or apple sauce. I have a lng list of stuff to try. They are omnivores... eat... anything. Her and the hubby have bonded so much it is totally adorable! He plays his video-games on the sofa with his hoody sweater on to stay warm. And she is curled in his hood the entire time! TOO CUTE!!! She is sharing space with the berber skink who is very upset by this. But tough. They can co-habitate. When the weather is warm, I will bring her about to visit people!

Off to bed now... lots to do. Monday is my writing day and i have lots of that.
